Rajan Anandan has long been a key force behind some of the most promising startups in India and Southeast Asia. As Managing Director at Peak XV Partners, he plays a central role in backing both early-stage and growth-stage companies, with a strong focus on technology-driven businesses.

But his influence goes beyond just investing. As the Managing Director of Surge, Peak XV’s seed-stage program, Anandan works closely with founders in their earliest days—helping them with not just capital, but also access to talent, mentorship, and strategic direction. His approach is hands-on, especially when it comes to building strong foundations.

He has a clear preference for B2B startups, particularly in areas like SaaS, big data, analytics, and healthcare. Over the years, he has backed companies such as Unacademy, Dunzo, InnovAccer, and Indifi Technologies—businesses that have gone on to scale and shape their respective sectors.

Anandan’s work also extends beyond India. He co-founded Blue Ocean Ventures, Sri Lanka’s first seed fund, contributing to the growth of the startup ecosystem in the region. In parallel, he serves as Co-Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of BOV Capital, continuing his focus on early-stage innovation.

With over 80 investments and multiple exits, his track record reflects both consistency and long-term thinking. He also remains actively involved as an advisor and board member to startups, offering insights drawn from years of experience in scaling technology businesses.

What stands out about Anandan is his focus on building ecosystems, not just companies. He invests in founders early, supports them closely, and stays involved as they grow.

Rajan Anandan’s journey reflects the evolving role of venture capital in India—where investors are not just backers, but partners in building businesses from the ground up.

Because sometimes, the real impact isn’t just in funding startups—but in helping them take their first steps.
