Matt and her wife, Namrata Asthana, are successful businesswomen and self-described coffee aficionados who converted their pastime into a thriving enterprise. Aiming to give coffee enthusiasts the best fragrance, body, flavor, and aftertaste, the business was founded in 2013 and has taken it upon itself to offer freshly roasted coffee to the tables of Indian homes.
Matt Chitharanjan earned a BSc in Finance in 2003 from NYU’s Stern Business School in New York, USA. He has also obtained M.A. in Economics from The University of British Columbia. Before moving to India to work on SME access to finance research with the Institute of Finance Management and Research, Matt spent a few years working on impact evaluation in international development after graduating in Jordan and the United States.

They sell roasted and ground coffee through their website as well as online retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, and others. They have 12 successful locations operating around the nation. Anicut Angel Fund, the equity division of Anicut Capital, led a pre-Series B bridge round of funding for specialty coffee startup Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters that raised Rs 17 crore.
