Viraj Ghelani Is Turning Gujarati Family Humor Into a Multi-Platform Career
At 31, Viraj Ghelani has built a distinctive presence in India’s comedy creator landscape by turning everyday Gujarati family moments into widely shared digital content. Based in Mumbai and ranked 45th in the comedy category, the creator behind @viraj_ghelani has steadily expanded his career from social media sketches to acting and live comedy.
Viraj first gained attention online nearly eight years ago with short comedic videos inspired by the quirks of a typical Gujarati household. Many of his sketches revolve around exaggerated family dynamics, especially his interactions with his grandmother, whose sharp remarks and classic one-liners have become a signature part of his content. The familiarity of these moments has helped his videos resonate with audiences far beyond the Gujarati community.
Over time, his digital popularity opened doors in mainstream entertainment. Recently, Ghelani starred as the lead in his debut film Jhamkudi, marking a major step in his acting career. In 2023, he also made a cameo appearance in director Atlee’s blockbuster film Jawan.
Alongside acting, Viraj has been exploring stand-up comedy as a new creative outlet. He made his stand-up debut in Mumbai earlier this year and followed it with two successful Gujarati-language shows in the city. Building on that momentum, he launched his first four-city stand-up tour across Gujarat and is now preparing for an international tour in Australia.
With average views crossing 5.3 million and a Goat Score of 8.32, Viraj Ghelani represents a creator who has successfully turned relatable digital comedy into a broader entertainment career.
Because sometimes, the funniest stories come straight from the living room — especially when family is involved.
