GURUGRAM: Technology entrepreneur and LinuxWorld Informatics founder Vimal Daga has reportedly been arrested by Gurugram Police, marking a dramatic turn in a series of legal disputes that had previously brought his name into the spotlight in connection with a high-profile Jaipur extortion and alleged honeytrap matter.

Daga had earlier approached Jaipur Police with allegations that he had been targeted through a blackmail and extortion scheme involving private and objectionable digital material. The case attracted considerable media attention, with police subsequently taking action against individuals named in that matter.

The earlier Jaipur case had positioned Daga as the complainant in a dispute involving allegations of blackmail and alleged financial extortion. The proceedings also generated competing claims from the other side, making the wider dispute a matter of continuing legal contention.

The latest development, however, comes from Gurugram and concerns a separate criminal case in which serious allegations have been made against Daga himself.

According to the FIR registered at DLF Police Station, Gurugram, on July 29, 2026, Daga and two other individuals have been named as accused. The case includes Sections 313, 323, 34, 376(2)(n), 406 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

The complaint relates to alleged events dating back to 2017. According to the complainant’s account recorded in the FIR, she came into contact with Daga and subsequently entered into a relationship after allegedly receiving assurances concerning marriage.

The complaint alleges that the relationship later involved physical violence, threats and psychological pressure. It also contains allegations concerning pregnancy and an alleged miscarriage.

Financial allegations form another significant part of the Gurugram complaint. The complainant has alleged financial coercion involving approximately 70 lakh, while a separate amount of around 10.5 lakh has been described as a personal loan.

The FIR also contains allegations relating to digital harassment. According to the complaint, multiple mobile numbers and email accounts were allegedly used in connection with communication, threats and harassment. The complaint further alleges that private digital material was used to exert pressure.

The reported arrest therefore represents a significant reversal in the public narrative surrounding the broader dispute. In the earlier Jaipur matter, Daga had approached the police as the complainant alleging blackmail and extortion. In the new Gurugram proceedings, he is himself named as an accused in a case involving substantially different and serious allegations.

The two matters remain legally separate and should not be treated as evidence of guilt or innocence in either proceeding. The earlier Jaipur allegations and the current Gurugram allegations are matters for their respective investigations and judicial processes.

Daga has maintained a prominent profile in India’s technology education sector through his association with LinuxWorld Informatics. His professional profile describes him as a technology expert and educator, while his public work has included technology training and professional education.

The Gurugram investigation is now expected to examine statements, financial transactions, communication records, electronic devices and other evidence relevant to the allegations.
