The British College Reaffirms Commitment to Responsible Dialogue, Transparency, and Quality Education
Kathmandu — The British College has reiterated its commitment to transparency, lawful governance, and responsible communication, following recent public discussions related to Nepal’s higher education sector.
The institution clarified that recent engagements with officials and advisors from the Ministry of Education were conducted as constructive, fact-based discussions aimed at strengthening academic standards and institutional accountability. However, these discussions have been misrepresented on certain digital platforms, leading to unnecessary sensationalism and misinformation.
Concern Over Coordinated Misinformation
The college expressed serious concern over what it described as a coordinated attempt to distort facts, where selective narratives shared by a few individuals — including former students with unresolved grievances — were amplified without verification. Such actions, the institution noted, risk undermining trust not only in a single institution but across Nepal’s broader education ecosystem.
Senior leadership highlighted that recent online activity has included personal attacks, intimidation, and repeated misrepresentation, which appear organised rather than incidental. Despite these challenges, the institution has chosen a measured and responsible approach, prioritising dialogue over confrontation.
Commitment to Lawful and Ethical Operations
The British College emphasised that it operates in full compliance with Nepal’s laws, regulations, and education policies, and continues to work closely with relevant authorities. The institution reiterated that education is a cornerstone of national development, and actions that damage institutional credibility ultimately affect students, parents, and educators alike.
“Our focus remains on delivering internationally benchmarked education while maintaining transparency and accountability at every level,” a spokesperson said.
Focus on Students and Institutional Integrity
The college reaffirmed that the interests of its students, faculty, and staff remain paramount. It has encouraged concerns to be raised through formal and institutional channels, where they can be addressed constructively and with due process, rather than through speculative or misleading digital campaigns.
Looking Ahead
As Nepal’s education sector continues to evolve, The British College stated that it remains committed to long-term academic excellence, global standards, and ethical leadership. The institution underscored that while open discussion is healthy, misinformation and defamation cannot be allowed to erode public trust built over years of service.
The college concluded by reaffirming its readiness to cooperate with all stakeholders and regulatory bodies to ensure a stable, credible, and student-focused education environment.
