With over 860 million views and 7 million subscribers on her channel Vidya Iyer aka Vidya vox is one of the iconic names in mashup singing and youtube. She is a musician, actress, YouTuber, vlogger, dancer.

She was born on 26 September 1990 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. She took lessons in Carnatic form of music at the age of 5. At the age of 8, she immigrated to the United States of America with her family. She also enjoyed listening to English music. Her grandmother was her inspiration to learn Indian classical music. Slowly and steadily she gained the confidence in her Indian roots in college and, joined the Indian Student Association and Indian folk dance teams because she used to face bullying and identity crisis earlier. She received her BSC with a major in psychology and minor in biomedical sciences degree from George Washington University, Washington D.C.

She collaborated for her creations with her college friend Shankar Tucker and her sister Vandana Iyer.

In 2012 she decided to pursue music as her career and shifted to India for two years to learn Carnatic music and learn western vocals after coming back from India she started her own Youtube channel by the name ‘Vidya Vox’ in 2015. And now she has more than 7 Million subscribers on her YouTube account.

Some of her most popular songs are Closer/Kabira, a mash-up of Closer by Chainsmokers and Kabira song from Bollywood movie Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and a mash-up of Lean on and Jind Mahi and her own version of Cheap Thrill’s. She has performed at some of the most iconic places like White House, National Centre for the Performing Arts, India and Webster Hall, Festival Des Artes in Reunion Island, INK Women, Suriname, Dubai and the Meru Concert Series in the Netherlands.
