Innovation in construction today finds a way out of the complex challenges and pushes the boundaries to the limits of what is possible. Fosroc is a British manufacturer specializing in construction chemicals and has been at the forefront of providing advanced solutions over the years for commercial, industrial, residential, marine, and infrastructure sectors. Whether it is a job involving waterproofing the world’s tallest hotel or rehabilitating structures after a century, Fosroc’s long experience and technological innovations for construction chemicals have ensured them a top spot globally.

Fosroc operates on a truly international scale with manufacturing facilities and offices across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Represented in other regions through a network of distributors and licensees, the company’s reach extends to nearly every corner of the globe, employing over 3,000 people worldwide. Fosroc’s innovations in construction chemicals allow projects to stand the test of time, even under the most extreme conditions.

Infrastructures rehabilitation works by Fosroc one of the most important locations were Asseyedah Fatimah Mosque, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The mosque was over two decades old when, due to corrosion in its reinforced concrete structure, it severely deteriorated. The environment was extremely aggressive, and the reinforced steel formed an inherent weak point. The state-of-the-art corrosion control solutions offered by Fosroc were designated as Fosroc Corrosion Solutions (FCS), which were selected to take care of the problem. FCS corrected the corrosion concern and prevented future occurrence, thus saving considerable maintenance costs in the following years. This project depicts a success story concerning Fosroc’s capabilities in restoring and keeping valuable infrastructure in challenging conditions.

Dubai, UAE Among Fosroc’s most renowned projects today is Burj Al Arab-the luxury hotel and pride of Dubai. The construction was a man-made island, and the building was a relatively tough operation to handle with the strong seawater environment. For this, Fosroc worked in collaboration very closely with the contractors and consultants involved in the project for the best fit in construction chemicals with regards to waterproofing and durability of pile heads. In doing so, it has further consolidated its position as a leader for high-performance construction solutions with longevity to this prestigious structure globally recognized.

Hyundai Mipo Shipyard, Ulsan, South Korea The company’s work on the Hyundai Mipo Shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea is a case in point as to its global reach and technical excellence. Established in 1975, the Hyundai Mipo shipyard is amongst the world’s largest and most modern shipyard facilities. The total area is about 660,000 square meters, and there are quite a number of challenges while maintaining the infrastructure of the shipyard for repairing purposes. Tailored solutions were supplied from Fosroc Korea to address a variety of repair work-from building façade repair, rapid-setting road repair, to extended-life applications that applied anti-corrosion technology. These innovative approaches ensured the continued functionality and safety of this large industrial facility.

St. Helens Hospital Redevelopment, Lancashire, England On the other side of the world, Fosroc contributed to the £338 million redevelopment of St. Helens Hospital in Lancashire, England. The works consisted of a new Diagnostic Treatment Center and an expansion of the hospital site over difficult conditions within the ground.

Fosroc worked in collaboration with Project Manager Taylor Woodrow Construction, consultants from Arup, and architects from Capita to engineer custom construction chemical solutions from the early stages of the project. Products utilized by Fosroc, for waterproofing purposes and gas protection, were of particular importance in ensuring that the infrastructure of the hospital would be meeting the strict requirements of regulation in light of such an environment. The hands-on support and design services offered by Fosroc UK added to the success of the project, therefore working out well in the challenge posed by the location.
