Australian tennis players will get a chance to contest for the prize money for the first time since March, when the UTR Pro Series starts in Sydney later this week. The top-ranked Ash Barty is unlikely to take part in this series, as she is focusing on practice.

Former US Open champion Sam Stosur is reportedly set to join the series, which will be played in other cities of the country from next week. Australia’s local men and women players will get a chance to compete in it and it is expected to run till August.

Elite competitive tennis is still suspended. The US Open Grand Slam tournament will begin at the empty stadium from 31 August, while the postponed French Open from May is expected to be played from 27 September.
