Showcasing Handpicked Chefs on a Single Platform- Knosh, Sumbul Siddiqui
Sumbul Siddiqui is the founder of Knosh, a technology-enabled food delivery platform that reinvents the culinary landscape by showcasing Handpicked Chefs serving authentic specialty cuisine. Knosh is India’s first platform that brings together renowned Celebrity Chefs and Popular Chefs to serve signature dishes from a curated menu, making them easily accessible to food connoisseurs.
She worked for Vodafone India, Bharti Airtel, and Tatasky after earning a hotel management diploma from the Institute of Hotel Management in Pusa and an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. Sumbul’s more than two decades of experience in the telecom and hospitality industries made it natural for her to strike out on her own when the opportunity arose.
Knosh, her third venture in the foodtech space, sought to solve a one-of-a-kind problem during the 2021 pandemic. Sumbul witnessed the effects of restaurants closing down overnight when hospitality, food, and beverage were among the worst hit industries during the pandemic. While many people took odd jobs to make ends meet, many talented chefs took their passion for preparing delicate food and cuisine to their home kitchens.
It allows users to choose from a list of chefs on its website or mobile app, select favorite dishes from a curated menu, and have food delivered on a specific date and time. The platform has close to 30 chefs on board, including Chef Sabyasachi Gorai, Chef Vaibhav Bhargava, Chef Vanshika Bhatia, Chef Nishant Choubey, and Chef Sweety Singh. This quarter, it hopes to hire about 60 more chefs for Gurugram.
The entrepreneur is now concentrating on integrating in-app features to enable content creation and the development of a food community. Knosh is working on features that will allow chefs to host live sessions, vlog, and share recipes, as well as allow users to explore and share food-related content.
