Diesel price increased by Rs 0.59 to Rs 74.62
In the midst of the Corona crisis, the prices of petrol and diesel continue to rise. Oil companies also increased the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday. Petrol price in Delhi has increased by Rs 0.48 to Rs 76.26 per liter. While the price of diesel has increased by Rs 0.59 to Rs 74.62.
This is the ninth day of continuous increase. Oil companies have been reviewing prices since June 2017 on a daily basis. Earlier, companies had not made any change in the price of petrol and diesel for about 12 weeks. From June 7, the price was changed in terms of cost. Since then, this is the ninth consecutive day when fuel prices have increased.
With the new increase, the price of petrol in Delhi has increased by Rs 0.48 to reach 76.26. While the price of diesel has increased by Rs 0.59 to Rs 74.62. Explain that the prices of petrol diesel will be different in different states depending on the VAT charged in the states.
Why is the price of oil increasing
The government on March 14 increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 3 per liter with the intention of taking advantage of the fall in crude oil prices due to the Corona virus crisis in the international market. The daily review of prices was stopped.
Congress targeted
At the same time, in spite of falling crude oil prices in the international market, the Congress has opened a front against the government for increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. The Congress has demanded that petrol and diesel be brought under GST. Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday said that the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG should be brought down to the level of August 2004, when the price of crude oil was $ 40 per barrel.
Surjewala said that in August 2004, petrol was 36.81 and diesel was Rs 24.16 per liter. The LPG cylinder was worth Rs 261.60, but now petrol, diesel and LPG are being sold for Rs 75.78, 74.03 and Rs 593.00. Surjewala also demanded withdrawal of excise duty of Rs 23.78 and Rs 28.37 on petrol and diesel, which was increased in 6 years.
The Congress leader said that 130 crore citizens of the country are fighting the corona epidemic today. The poor, migrant workers, shopkeepers, farmers, small and medium businessmen and large number of unemployed people are struggling for life in the face of this difficult economic recession and epidemic.
