Manmeet Gujral is part of a new generation of venture capitalists who bring deep product and technical understanding into investing. A vice president at CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth fund, he focuses on AI, application software and infrastructure, identifying companies that are building the next layer of technology.

Before stepping into venture capital, Gujral worked in product marketing and operations at machine learning startup Tecton, and as a consultant at Bain & Company. With a dual degree in computer science and economics from Dartmouth, his background reflects a strong mix of technical and business insight.

His investment work highlights this blend. In 2025, he was closely involved with companies like Motif, an AI-powered building design platform, and Physical Intelligence, a robotics lab. CapitalG led funding rounds for both, backing them at key stages of growth.

Gujral’s approach to investing is deeply tied to how he personally engages with technology. He describes himself as a “voracious user of AI,” regularly using tools like Gemini and AlphaSense for research and analysis.

But his use of AI isn’t limited to work. He also experiments with tools like Lovable to build small applications for everyday use—including a custom app to help him and his wife pick movies for date nights. This hands-on experimentation reflects his belief that understanding technology comes from actually using it.

His style represents a shift in venture capital, where investors are not just evaluating products from the outside, but actively interacting with them.

Because today, the best way to understand the future of technology is to build with it yourself—even in small, everyday ways.
