Founders Of JhaJi Store- Taste of Mithila, Kalpana Jha and Uma Jha
Our Food is a statement. It is a manifestation of variety and cultural heritage. Regarding India, the Land of Diversity, it can be observed that the word “diversity” fits well within the Indian culinary culture. Indian food is like a billion different culinary threads that each symbolise a different regional cuisine. The pickle is one such instance. From the spiciest red chile pickle to the milder mango pickle, India has a pickle to suit every taste.
Kalpana Jha and Uma Jha, two sisters-in-law from the rural Mithilanchal region of Northern Bihar’s Darbhanga, made the decision to expand their passion for pickles by launching their own company. Today, Jhaji Store, their business, is renowned throughout India for its delectable and distinctive pickles.
On October 2, 2020, Kalpana and Uma made the decision to start their company in the little town of Darbhanga, Mithilanchal, Northern Bihar. Mithila Pickles and Chutneys Private Limited was given its name. They have been producing pickles and chutneys for the past three decades, and people from New Delhi to New York appreciate, adore, and cherish them. They also understood that the moment had come to share their knowledge with those outside of their close group. After six months of trials and tribulations, obtaining food permits, completing packaging, and producing hundreds of kilograms of pickles, the JhaJi Store, a venture they could never have envisioned, eventually opened its doors in late March 2021.
After Kalpana’s husband recommended that she start manufacturing pickles at home to save money, the sisters-in-law founded the business. The business immediately found success, and it now sells its goods throughout India. Mithila’s Pickles also offers chutneys, sauces, and other condiments in addition to pickles. They credit their commitment to quality and their willingness to try new tastes for their success. They constantly innovate, which has enabled them to build their company gradually over time.
