Founder Of NE Origins, Rewaj Chettri
Rewaj Chettri is the founder of NE Origins which is an online marketplace that sells products sourced from the greenest hills and the most pristine Himalayas, and manufactured with the goodness of raw materials, precision in the creative process, and a lot of love for the north-eastern diversity.
NE Origins, a Sikkim-based company founded in 2021, provides real cuisine products from India’s Northeastern states across the country. Rewaj Chettri, a serial entrepreneur, has created his second big firm, an ecommerce platform. In addition, he has worked on a number of small businesses, including NE Talks, Cisum, Washer, a hyperlocal washing service, Chitto, Sikkim Ventures, a micro-investment, promotion, branding, and accountancy agency, and Go Sikkim, a photographic platform.
For the warehousing and packaging of its products, NE Origins has partnered with a few companies. Over 40,000 regional SMEs will be transformed as a result of the startup’s support of micro-entrepreneurs across eight states. It currently has 16 members on its staff.
Rewaj’s long-term goal is to turn the Northeast into a net producer economy, creating jobs and preserving the region’s “unique history” through the rise of SMEs. NE Origins now competes with a few regional brands that offer restricted items, such as Zizira in Meghalaya, Hill Wild in Manipur, and Korangani Tea in Assam.
Rewaj made history when he became the first individual from North-East India to be named to the prestigious FORBES List. He is one of Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 honorees for 2018. In 2018, he received Sikkim’s Highest Civilian Award for his outstanding contributions to the field of entrepreneurship in the state of Sikkim.
Aside from NE Taxi, he founded 35 additional businesses, the majority of which failed, but for which his hard work and dedication were rewarded with experience and success. Young Leaders Connect has also given him the distinguished title of “THE ENTREPRENEUR.” He believes in teamwork and participation with the community. His community, Sikkim Entrepreneurs’ Hub, is currently focusing on constructing a business incubator.
