Sachin said, there was no sticker on my bat in the 1990s. I did not have a contract, but still, I did not break the promise given to my father. I did not support these brands.
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar told E-Salaam Cricket 2020 that I had promised my father that I would never advertise tobacco products or alcohol. Sachin said, ‘My father told me that I am a role model and many people will follow you. That is why I have never endorsed tobacco products or alcohol.
Sachin said, ‘There was no sticker on my bat in the 1990s. I did not have a contract, but everyone in the team was promoting Wills and Four Squares in particular, but still, I did not break the promise given to my father. I did not support these brands.
Sachin said, ‘I got many proposals to promote his brand stickers on the bat, but I did not want to support them all. I stayed away from both these things (cigarette and liquor brands) and never broke the promise made to my father.
Talking about the coronavirus, Sachin Tendulkar said, ‘We are all in a team trying to defeat coronavirus. We do not have to compete with ourselves, we have to look at ways to defeat the virus. Even if someone wants to help in financial or some other way, one should follow all the norms given by the Ministry of Health. We have to work as a team in the fight against Kovid-19.
Tendulkar said, ‘It is difficult for the people and the Ministry of Health is giving instructions according to the people. The message I want to convey is that direction is more important in life than speed. If the direction is correct then we can increase the speed. We need to follow the instructions given to us by the Ministry of Health, it is difficult but we have to do it.
