Shruti Kumar represents a new generation of venture capitalists who see their role as far more than just deploying capital. As vice president at Tusk Ventures—and the firm’s sole non-partner investor—she leads outbound sourcing and diligence, playing a key role in identifying and evaluating new opportunities.

Since joining Tusk in April 2025, Kumar has been deeply involved in several of the firm’s investments, including Doctronic, an AI-driven healthcare startup. Her hands-on approach reflects a broader shift in venture capital, where investors are expected to actively contribute beyond funding.

Kumar’s journey into venture began in tech investment banking at Citibank, followed by a role at 01 Advisors in 2022. These experiences helped shape her understanding of both financial strategy and early-stage company building.

At the core of her philosophy is a simple but powerful idea: venture capital is fundamentally a relationship-driven business. She emphasises that founders don’t just choose investors for their money—they choose them for the value, support and partnership they bring.
