Lexi Henkel Is Backing Underserved Markets With Deep Conviction
Lexi Henkel is redefining what it means to be an involved venture capitalist. A managing director at Maverick Ventures, she focuses on identifying opportunities at the intersection of healthcare, consumer needs and emerging societal shifts.
Before entering venture capital, Henkel built her expertise in finance and strategy at a healthcare startup and worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. This operational and financial background now shapes her approach to investing—one that is both analytical and deeply hands-on.
In 2025, she led Maverick Ventures’ Series A investment in Prosper Health, a company providing autism testing and therapy for adults. The investment reflects her conviction in a space that has historically been overlooked. She identified neurodivergent adults as a large, underserved population, sitting at the crossroads of behavioral health, consumer health and cultural awareness.
Henkel didn’t just invest—she joined the company’s board, signalling a commitment to actively support its growth and long-term vision.
Her perspective also highlights how venture capital is evolving. With more capital available and products becoming easier to build, founders now have greater choice in who they partner with. As a result, investors are expected to contribute far beyond funding—getting involved in the day-to-day journey of building a company.
Maverick Ventures is also leaning into AI to stay ahead. Henkel notes that her team uses advanced tools to identify potential founders even before they start companies, analysing backgrounds, expertise and early signals to build relationships early.
Her approach reflects a broader shift in investing—one that combines conviction in underserved markets with proactive, hands-on engagement.
Because today, the best investments don’t just follow trends—they uncover opportunities others haven’t fully seen yet.
