Alexa Gellman Is Turning Curiosity and Research Into High-Conviction Bets
Alexa Gellman’s journey in venture capital is a reminder that careers often come full circle. Now chief of staff at Inspired Capital, she joined the firm in 2024 to work closely with founding partner Alexa von Tobel—someone she first worked with years earlier as a summer intern at LearnVest.
After that early start, Gellman built a strong foundation across finance and investing. She spent five years at BlackRock, went on to earn her MBA from Harvard Business School, and later joined Volition Capital, where she focused on internet and consumer investments, sourcing deals like Chamberlain Coffee and Mozaic.
Her current role reflects a shift toward deeper research and emerging technologies. In 2025, she played a key role in supporting Inspired Capital’s investment in Logiqal, a quantum computing startup. To build conviction in the space, Gellman conducted conversations with over 100 experts, recognising that the industry was approaching a critical inflection point.
This level of diligence highlights her approach—grounded in curiosity, research and pattern recognition, especially in complex and fast-evolving sectors like frontier tech.
She also actively uses AI to enhance her work. Tools like ChatGPT’s deep research capabilities help her accelerate learning and refine questions early, allowing her to navigate new industries more efficiently.
Gellman’s path reflects a modern style of investing—one that blends traditional fundamentals with continuous learning and technological leverage.
Because in today’s venture landscape, asking better questions early can make all the difference later.
