Pakistan Admits Security Strain as Balochistan Violence Intensifies

Published

on

Pakistan’s Defence Minister has acknowledged that security forces are facing serious operational challenges in tackling insurgency in Balochistan, amid a sharp escalation in militant attacks across the province.

Speaking publicly, the minister cited the region’s vast geography, rugged terrain, and logistical constraints as factors limiting the effectiveness of counter-insurgency operations. His remarks come as violence linked to separatist groups has resulted in hundreds of deaths in recent weeks.

Authorities have increased troop deployments and security checkpoints, while rejecting negotiations with armed groups accused of targeting civilians and state infrastructure.

The ongoing unrest has raised concerns over regional stability, economic disruption, and human rights conditions, with analysts warning that a purely military response may not deliver long-term peace.
