President’s Rule Withdrawn in Manipur, Political Process to Resume

The Union Government on Tuesday revoked President’s Rule in Manipur, paving the way for the restoration of the state’s regular constitutional and political process. President’s Rule had been imposed amid prolonged unrest and administrative challenges following ethnic violence in the state.

Officials said the decision was taken after a detailed assessment of the law-and-order situation, security deployment, and administrative functioning. The Centre has reportedly been in consultation with state officials and security agencies over recent weeks before arriving at the decision.

While political activity is expected to resume gradually, authorities said security forces will continue to remain deployed to ensure stability. Further clarity on government formation and legislative proceedings is expected in the coming days.
