W Motors has been the pioneering Emirati sports car manufacturer, turning upside down since its establishment in 2012 the exclusive car segment. Headquartered in Dubai, this promising company stands behind the creation of the Middle East’s first high-performance supercars, which manage to combine sleek design and advanced technology with unparalleled class. But what really sets W Motors apart? Let’s delve a little deeper into this remarkable story of how they came to produce the iconic models such as the Lykan HyperSport and Fenyr SuperSport, position themselves right in the face of giant global automotive companies, and start pushing the boundaries of conventional understanding of what should be considered a luxury automobile manufacturer.

W Motors was established in 2012, starting its journey in Lebanon and later shifting its headquarters to Dubai, UAE. The company marked itself as the first developer of high-performance luxury sports cars in the Middle East. Founded by entrepreneur Ralph Debbas, W Motors’ early vision was to craft limited-edition supercars that would offer an exclusive blend of luxury, technology, and performance.

Instantly upon its launch at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show, it created a stir in the air-the company’s very first model, Lykan HyperSport. This luxury supercar, priced at $3.4 million, boasted state-of-the-art technology and became an instant cultural icon. Sleek, with a futuristic design and made from the finest materials such as diamond-encrusted LED headlights, this was the pinnacle that gave status to supercars. This earned the Lykan HyperSport a starring role in the blockbuster movie Furious 7, forever cementing its place in pop culture history. W Motors stormed the world with the presentation of the Lykan HyperSport but did not stop there. The HyperSport, limited to a mere seven units globally, became one of the world’s most expensive and elite cars. The result is this outrageously powerful twin-turbo 3.7L powerhouse, capable of unleashing 780 horsepower that launches it from 0-100 km/h in a mere 2.8 seconds and gives it a top speed of 404 km/h.

Following up on the success of the Lykan HyperSport, W Motors introduced the Fenyr SuperSport in 2015. A bit more reasonably priced than its predecessor, the Fenyr SuperSport nonetheless had some very impressive specs. It was powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0L, which boasted 900 horsepower and gave the vehicle a lot of top-end speed over 400 km/h. It bore the name of the legendary Norse wolf Fenrir. The model is designed to be truly high-performance, with aggressive styling, power, and luxury, all encased in a more subtle package than compared with the Lykan.

W Motors doesn’t focus on supercars only. It has also been at the forefront of innovation by signing an agreement with ICONIQ Motors for the development of electric vehicles. An example is the ICONIQ Seven, an all-electric vehicle that has been called a multi-purpose vehicle intended for sustainable and efficient transport. This deal simply shows just how the firm, W Motors, does not hesitate to incorporate futuristic technology into its automotive designs. In 2020, W Motors broke ground on a $100 million production facility in Dubai. This will be the home for all future models down the line, including electric and autonomous models, a continued drive by the brand towards sustainable innovation. Moreover, W Motors announced electric supercars soon that would push boundaries on performance and eco-friendliness.

W Motors stands at the intersection of luxury, performance, and innovation. From the drool-worthy Lykan HyperSport to the beastly Fenyr SuperSport, this Emirati car manufacturer brought the world’s attention to Dubai’s growing automotive industry. And while the brand might still be in its infancy, with new models of electric and autonomous vehicles in promising development, W Motors proves its legacy is only just beginning.
