Benedikt Franke is the founder of Planetly, a climate-tech startup that creates digital tools that help businesses quantify, decrease, and pay for their CO2 emissions. Planetly has stated that its mission is to make the business world carbon neutral.
Benedikt graduated from Bayreuth University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and economics and a master’s degree from ESCP Europe. He was a co-founder of Helpling, Europe’s top marketplace for household services, prior to starting Planetly. From 2014 to 2019, he served as co-CEO of the company. He began his career as a consultant at Boston Consulting before joining Rocket Internet in 2009, where he worked closely with the portfolio’s various firms and launched MyCityDeal in the United Kingdom. He co-founded the Latin America Group, a premium lifestyle content and advertising network, in 2010.
Benedikt is distinguished by his zeal for the mission and enormous energy, qualities that have made him exceptional leaders and destined to overcome such a monumental task. The founder’s major motivation for developing Planetly was to become the go-to carbon management solution for businesses. The company has developed software that allows customers to assess their carbon footprint while also providing recommendations for how to reduce it. From 2,000+ brands and service providers across 60+ countries, gagement techniques including gift cards, products, and prizes for both staff and customers.
Planetly’s key business is calculating carbon emissions, which involves transforming, classifying, and extrapolating operational data into a carbon footprint that can be accessed via their carbon intelligence dashboard. Companies can develop emissions reports that comply with established standards, define and track emission reduction targets while having access to service providers, and access a curated portfolio of high-quality carbon offset projects based on this research. More than 120 people work with Planetly now, and more than 200 companies, including BMW, HelloFresh, and The Economist Group, rely on the TÜV-certified Planetly Solution and approach to take significant climate action.
