World Day Against Child Labour 2020:

Child Labour is such a bitter reality, which is affecting the whole world, not India. International Child Labor Prohibition Day

In 2002, International Child Labor Prohibition Day was celebrated for the first time by the International Labor Organization, which works to stop child labor. International Child Labor Prohibition Day is celebrated every year on 12 June and on this day people are made aware to end child labor.

What is the significance of this day?

World Child Labor Prohibition Day has far reaching effects on all. Lack of access to proper education, poverty, poverty leads to millions of children turning to child labor. According to a survey, the number of child laborers working in the fields is now increasing rapidly towards the urban sector compared to other sectors. This means that now children are being forced to work in urban areas instead of farms. Looking at the statistics of child labor, there are about 10.1 million child laborers working in India. In such a situation, children often become victims of violence and abuse. 

How is this day celebrated?

On this day, programs are organized to raise awareness against child labor and violence against children. People are made aware about children’s rights, laws and rules. Along with this, this day highlights various aspects like proper education of children, normal childhood, complete protection of children in homes.

In fact, all the projects related to the control of child labor and the interest of working children are going on by the central government. The main objective of which is to remove child laborers from wages and improve their future. Under this project, more than 50 thousand children have been freed from child labor between 2017 and 2018 ..

Child labor is a crime

Several laws have been enacted in the interest of children, according to which it is illegal to give work to children below the age of 14 years or get their wages done. Doing so falls under the category of crime, which means that in violation of this law, the guilty person can be arrested without warrant. Apart from this, if a person gets a child below 14 years of age or gets a 14-18 year old child involved in a dangerous business, then he can be sentenced to jail from 6 months to 2 years. With this, a fine of Rs 20 to 50 thousand can also be imposed.
