Working For Specially Abled Persons WIth Torchit, Hunny Bhagchandani
Hunny Bhagchandani is the creator of Torchit, an Indian organization whose purpose is to bring the “Power of Independence” to the Differently Abled community by providing respectable yet cheap products and services. Torchit tries to be a social effect organization that attempts to enable individuals with incapacities by giving a stage to them to flourish.
Hunny graduated from Gandhinagar’s Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University with a degree in industrial engineering. He was also a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab. Hunny, who has a background in engineering, has always aspired to use his technical knowledge to help the community.
Hunny saw a visually handicapped person in a horrible accident during his internship in the social sector in 2013-14. His heart and head were both shattered as a result of the catastrophe. His social internship at the Gujarat Blind People’s Association taught him how an ineffective assistive technology nearly killed one of his visually impaired pals.
Torch
It came into being after Hunny saw one of the visually challenged people involved in a tragic accident. Dr. Bhushan Punani, Professor R. Soni, and the MIT Media Labs were among the important mentor organizations and persons that provided him with the roadmap to help the visually handicapped.
Their journey of assisting the community began with the development of our first product, ‘Saarthi,’ an assistive mobility gadget that aids the blind/visually impaired in identifying an obstruction on their way with a 99.7% accuracy.
