Facebook has said that the payment feature is being provided in WhatsApp for Brazilian users. Although the company has not named it WhatsApp Pay, the company has said that it will be based on Facebook Pay.
In the coming time, the company can offer Facebook Pay for transactions in all Facebook apps.
According to the company, Brazil has become the first country where the payment feature has been launched on a large scale in WhatsApp. Through the payment feature provided in WhatsApp, money can be sent to each other only through WhatsApp.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post, ‘From today we are launching WhatsApp Payments for the people of Brazil. We are making sending money as easy as sharing photos’.
Mark Zuckerberg has also said that with the launch of WhatsApp Payment, now small businesses will be able to sell directly from WhatsApp. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook is being made for WhatsApp payment, which will provide the option of secure payment in all Facebook apps.
Discussions have been going on for a long time about the launch of the payment feature in WhatsApp in India, but due to lack of clearance, so far the official app on WhatsApp has not been made. However, Zuckerberg has pointed out in this post that soon its scope will be expanded.
