Rights Group Warns of Global Democratic Erosion
A leading human rights organisation has released a new report warning that global democratic freedoms are under intensifying threat.
The study cites increasing authoritarian tendencies in major nations, crackdowns on free speech, and weakened civil liberties as contributing factors to what it terms a “democratic recession.”
According to the report, ongoing restrictions on media, political dissent, and judicial independence in multiple countries are eroding guarantees of basic human rights.
The group urged world leaders and international institutions to strengthen protections for democratic institutions and civil liberties.
