Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India should exploit its vast potential in the field of digital gaming by developing games inspired by its culture and folklore. He said that apart from production as per global standards, our focus should be on technology use and innovation.

In a meeting convened to consider ways to promote the production of toys in the country, Modi said that toys can be a great means to promote the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. After the meeting, the Prime Minister tweeted that our focus should be on helping the region and developing toys that ensure physical fitness and overall personality development. A statement issued by Modi said that toys associated with Indian culture and ethos should be used as educational tools for the all-round development of children in all Anganwadi centers and schools. He also stressed the need to organize hackathons for innovation in toy technology and design.

It is known that Union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday said that from September 1, only imported toys that meet the required quality standards will be allowed to enter the country. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) staff will be deployed at major ports for quality checks.

Significantly, since the boycott of Chinese goods, now the demand on domestic products has increased. Due to this, the government is also going to increase the production of toys from the domestic level to the global level. The demand for Chinese toys has come down in the market due to the ongoing conflict between India and China. Indian toy manufacturers are also benefiting from this. The demand for Indian toys in markets has increased rapidly.
