More than 32 industrial accidents after lockdown, labor organization writes letter to PM Modi
Since May, there have been more than 32 accidents in the country’s factories, in which 75 people have died. The Industrial Global Union (IGU) has warned that these incidents indicate that security has been lacking for a long time.

There have been more than 32 industrial accidents in the country in the last two months after the lockdown. These include the major accident of Vizag. An international labor organization has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this.
Significantly, during March and April, there was a complete lockdown in the country. But after this, the work of factories started in May. Suddenly, reports of gas leaks or some other accident started in many factories. According to data from the Geneva-based international organization Industrial Global Union, 75 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in around 32 such accidents in India in May and June. That is, an average industrial accident occurred every two days during this period.
Major accident took place in Vizag
Significantly, during this time, a big industrial accident took place on May 7 in the factory of LG Polymers. In this factory, 12 workers were killed due to leakage of poisonous gas. Similarly, on July 1, 13 people were killed in a boiler explosion in the factory of Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Tamil Nadu. In the course of two months, there were many minor accidents which did not make headlines in newspapers.
8 people were killed and around 40 were injured in a boiler explosion at Yashswi Rasayana Private Limited’s factory in Dahej, Gujarat. 6 people were killed in the blast at a mining site in Mahoba, Madhya Pradesh, including two women and three children.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Industrial Global Union (IGU) has warned that these incidents indicate that security, regulations and investigations have been lagging for a long time and need to be reviewed in depth. Is demanded. It said that 7 people were killed in Neyveli due to a fire in a furnace on May 7, but after two months a major accident occurred again on July 1 and so far a total of 20 workers have lost their lives.
Government should issue warning
Assistant General Secretary of Industrial Global Union Kemal Ozkan said, ‘We have deep concerns about these frequent fatal accidents which could have been avoided. The Government of India should immediately issue a national warning and issue appropriate safety measures and protocols so that such accidents can be prevented.
