Luc Ryan-Schreiber operates in one of the most unconventional corners of venture capital—the stage before a startup is even formed. As a principal at AlleyCorp, he focuses on incubating and investing across media, fintech and international markets, often getting involved at the earliest possible moment.

Before transitioning into venture capital, Ryan-Schreiber was a senior executive at the French media company Brut, where he played a key role in fundraising and expansion. That operator experience now shapes his hands-on, builder-first approach.

In 2025, he co-created Lora, an astrocartography-focused app, alongside Michelle Parsons, former chief product officer of Hinge. What stands out isn’t just the idea—but the execution. In just six weeks, with zero marketing spend, Lora built a waitlist of over 70,000 users and an active Discord community. The experiment demonstrated how strong product-market resonance and community-building can outperform traditional growth tactics.

Ryan-Schreiber thrives in these early, unstructured phases—what he describes as the “messy moment” before a company takes shape. His role isn’t just to invest, but to help create and validate ideas from scratch.

His advice to aspiring investors reflects this clarity of purpose: don’t try to do everything. Instead of being a “Swiss Army knife,” he believes venture capitalists should focus on their core strengths—whether that’s hiring, product strategy or go-to-market execution—and collaborate with others to fill the gaps.
