She changed careers in 2013 and founded Safecity.in with the goal of bringing about social change to enhance the lives of women, youth, and older citizens through awareness, interaction, and education.

It’s a website that collects firsthand accounts of sexual harassment and abuse in public places from the general public. This data, which may or may not be anonymous, is aggregated as hot spots on a map, suggesting local patterns. The goal is to make this information relevant to individuals, local communities, and local governments in order to identify variables that lead to violent behavior and develop remedies.

With Safecity, ElsaMarie aims to make places safer by encouraging equal access to public spaces for everyone, especially women, through the use of crowdsourced data, community engagement and institutional accountability. Her major goal is to raise awareness about sexual harassment and abuse and to encourage women and other marginalised groups to speak out about their personal experiences.

ElsaMarie has received the Vital Voices Global Leadership Award, Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Niti Aayog’s #WomenTransformingIndia award, and SheThePeople’s Digital Woman Award in Social Impact, and has been named one of BBC Hindi’s 100 Women.
