India will not tolerate changes in LAC, Defense Minister reviews situation with NSA and Army Chiefs
In view of China’s stubborn stand on East Ladakh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday reviewed the situation after meeting with top security officials. The meeting discussed the ongoing negotiations between the two countries and the progress being made on the back of the Chinese military. A clear message was given that India would not tolerate attempts to change the LAC and would respond sternly. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Chief of the three armies General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General MM Narwane, Naval Chief Admiral Karmbir Singh and Air Chief Marshal Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria.
The situation of stalemate with China mainly in eastern Ladakh was discussed. Looking at China’s stance, the future framework was considered. Negotiations with China so far and the steps of its army have led to the conclusion that the neighboring country is not serious about restoring normalcy over East Ladakh. He is adamant on retaining his illegal occupation of the advance front. Through talks, time is stretching and during this time it is strengthening its defense preparedness.
The Chinese army occupied Indian land in early May, undergoing a severe transition to Corona. After initial negotiations, when China was not ready to retreat, 21 Indian soldiers were martyred in the conflict between the soldiers of the two countries, while more than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the match. India insists that the Chinese army retreat and maintain the position of April before the infiltration. But China is increasing the time by adopting a policy of procrastination. Seeing the Chinese position, Indian forces are giving their preparations an edge. This time the army has decided not to evacuate the area even in the cold snowy weather.
In talks with China, the Indian Army has made it clear that it does not accept the Chinese intention to change the Line of Actual Control (LAC). If the Chinese military does not pull back, it will have to be prepared to suffer the consequences. According to sources, China is looking for an excuse to return but given the tough stand of the Indian Army, it cannot find that excuse right now. Due to this, several rounds of diplomatic and military talks between the two countries have not reached a decisive mark even after two and a half months. The officials of both countries also held talks again on Thursday. A spokesman for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had said that both countries are keen on a quick solution to the problem. They want to do this on the basis of prior agreements and traditions.
