Founder of Willie’s Superbrew, Nico Enriquez
Nico Enriquez is the founder of Willie’s Superbrew, which is a gluten-free hard seltzer with genuine fruit that is minimal in carbs and calories.
Nico Enriquez went to Brown University with the intention of becoming a synthetic neurobiologist, but he quickly recognized that the field was not for him. After that in 2015, he formed Willie’s Superbrew with his friend Willie Fenichel, a Cape Cod goat farmer, to manufacture craft, alcoholic ginger beer.
Following their acceptance into the Chobani Incubator in 2017, the couple decided to sell a canned hard seltzer produced with real fruit. Willie’s Superbrew is a low-calorie beverage that uses fruit concentrate and mango instead of artificial flavors or sweeteners. Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Fairway now sell the “Superbrew.” Enriquez has committed to donating 3% of his company’s income to an environmental organization chosen by Superbrew customers each year.
They recently SWEPT the 2020 NY International Beer Festival, winning Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Best Hard Seltzer, and they also won 9 medals last year.
Nico was named a Forbes 30 under 30 in the Food & Drink category for 2020, and he’ll be speaking about his experience starting Willie’s Superbrew in his Brown dorm room, how to find the right co-founder, the importance of company values, and how to use Brown to build your advisor and investor network, among other topics.
They’re offered in 1,600 retailers across the Northeast, and sales are expected to more than double this year. Nico’s mission is to live up to his ideals, have fun, and grow Willie’s Superbrew into the Hard Seltzer category’s leader through real fruit, real people, and real effect on the industry.
