Does Google search have our Whatsapp Number???

Whatsapp is one of the biggest Social Media application which is present on each & every cell phone. Now a day’s people have forgotten to write letters to one another instead of writing letters they all chit-chat on the most renowned application Whatsapp. It has a lot of features like the first one should have a contact number of the person with whom they want to chat. Other awesome features of this application are one can put statuses, share images, documents. The most important & the feature used by everyone on a daily basis is video & voice calling.

One of the researchers told that Since Whatsapp defines only contact numbers of one another, google search revealed just the phone numbers and not the identities of the users of the Social messaging site

Is Whatsapp malfunctioning?

• WhatsApp has a host of features in its arsenal that make it easy for users to chat with one another.
• But now, word is that one of those features has a bug that makes a WhatsApp user’s phone number appear in Google Search results.
• One of the person named as Bug-bounty hunter Athul Jayaram told that in Whatsapp Click to Chat feature was putting the number of its users on the social messaging site at a risk by allowing google to search them.

This is the biggest bug Whatsapp is having till date as it would be so easier for anyone to search the contact number of any of the following persons. It would be a big threat to the privacy.

Important Updates regarding this bug in Whatsapp are

• Jayaram has told that contact numbers of the visitors who use this feature to connect with websites can show up in Google. Search results as the search indexes the feature’s called as metadata.
• The bug bounty hunter defines that users’ phone numbers are visible in plain text in the URL for example, https://wa.me/<phone_number> — making it easier for scammers to compile a list of legitimate phone numbers. He has found 3,00,000 indexed on Google so far.
• Click to Chat allows users to initiate WhatsApp chat with another user without saving their contact numbers saved in the sender’s address book. Now, this would allow websites to interact with their visitors without having the visitor to dial in the phone number.
