The company behind the online creative platforms DesignCrowd and BrandCrowd has introduced a new digital design platform, Design.com, aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small businesses create branding and marketing materials using automated and AI-powered tools.

The new platform, which emerged publicly after operating in stealth development, is designed to provide a broad set of design resources through a subscription-based model. According to the company, Design.com offers access to a library of more than 500,000 design templates and a collection of over 40 design tools intended to simplify the design process for new businesses.

Among its key features is a logo generation tool capable of producing thousands of logo variations within seconds based on a business name or concept. The platform also includes tools that allow users to create items such as business cards, social media graphics, websites, and QR codes, with the system automatically adapting designs around a company’s logo to maintain consistent branding.

AI Tools Introduced for Business Naming and Logo Creation

As part of the launch, the company also introduced two artificial intelligence-based tools: an AI Business Name Generator and an AI Logo Generator. The AI logo tool combines generative AI capabilities with the platform’s existing template library to generate editable vector graphics.

According to the company, the goal of combining AI with a large library of templates is to produce designs that are both customizable and suitable for commercial use.

Alec Lynch, CEO and founder of Design.com, said the platform represents the next stage of development for the company, which has operated in the online design space for more than a decade through its existing brands.

“Design.com combines our existing design template library with new branding and AI tools. Our vision is to create a platform that entrepreneurs and small businesses can use as a central destination for their design needs,” Lynch said.

Growing Demand for Design Tools Among New Businesses

The launch comes at a time when the number of new businesses being formed has increased significantly in several regions. In the United States alone, an estimated 5.5 million new businesses were created in 2023, reflecting a broader global trend toward entrepreneurship following the COVID-19 pandemic.

This surge in business creation has contributed to growing demand for digital design tools and branding services. Industry data cited by the company indicates that Google searches related to “logo design” have increased steadily over the past five years, eventually surpassing search interest for “business cards” in 2020.

Platform Growth During Development Phase

The company reported that Design.com had already experienced rapid user growth while being developed privately. Across its three platforms—Design.com, BrandCrowd, and DesignCrowd—the company states it now receives over one million new email sign-ups each month.

The broader company has also reported strong revenue growth, stating that its business is expanding at an annual rate of approximately 100 percent year-over-year and is projected to reach an estimated AUD $100 million annual revenue run rate within the next year.

Clancy Clarke, Head of Marketing at Design.com, said the company intends for the platform to become a primary destination for entrepreneurs seeking branding and design resources.

“The goal is for Design.com to become one of the first places business owners consider when launching a new venture,” Clarke said.

The launch of Design.com reflects the increasing integration of artificial intelligence into creative and branding tools, as technology companies seek to simplify the design process for startups, freelancers, and small businesses.
