Liquor shops will now open from 10 am to 10 pm. Till now these shops were opening from 10 am to 9 pm. In this regard, the order was issued on Thursday by Deputy Commissioner of Excise Department Sandeep Mishra, which has come into effect from Friday. This is expected to increase liquor sales.

Significantly, liquor shops were closed since March 25 in the lockdown. Then after about 40 days, on 4 May, liquor shops were opened again, then the queues of the drinkers started. Meanwhile, the rule of physical distance was broken, the government increased the price by 70 percent in the name of special corona fees to control the crowd. With this increase, the government received additional revenue of Rs 127 crore from May 4 to May 25 from alcohol. However, this fee was lifted when liquor sales were down. There are about 863 liquor shops in Delhi. In addition, there are 950 bars and clubs, which have been closed since March 25 due to Corona.

This is order

Following the guidelines issued by the Chairman of the State Executive Committee of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, the Government of Delhi has introduced L-6, L-7, L-8, L-9 and L-10 liquor shops from 31 July 2020.
