Founded by Biraja Prasad Rout in 2011, Biggies Burger started as a weekend hobby and has grown into a formidable force in the Indian QSR industry. Biraja’s journey into the world of fast food began while he was working at HCL Limited, where he observed the popularity of fast-food chains. However, he noticed a gap in the market—there were no local brands that could compete with the international giants. This realization spurred his entrepreneurial spirit, leading to the birth of Biggies Burger.

Biggies Burger started small, with a modest kiosk in Bengaluru’s Electronic City, strategically located near the Infosys office. This initial foray into the QSR world was a weekend project, but Biraja’s vision was anything but small. He saw the potential for a home-grown fast-food brand that could cater to the Indian palate while delivering the speed and convenience associated with QSRs. Today, Biggies Burger has blossomed into a thriving brand with a presence in 71 outlets across 25 cities in India, excluding North India. What sets Biggies Burger apart is its franchisee model, with all outlets operating as franchises, except for one company-owned store in Bengaluru. This approach not only fuels the brand’s expansion but also empowers local entrepreneurs to be part of Biggies Burger’s success story.

A Vision for Domestic and International Growth:

In 2023, Biggies Burger is poised for significant domestic and international expansion. The brand’s ambitions extend to Singapore, marking its first international foray. Moreover, Biggies Burger aims to open an impressive 306 outlets by 2024, with a remarkable run rate of five new franchises per month. Biraja’s vision goes beyond just offering a delicious burger. He intends to create a QSR experience that resonates with the Indian audience, incorporating flavours and menu items that cater to local tastes while maintaining the efficiency and convenience of global fast-food chains.

Building a home-grown QSR brand in a market dominated by international giants is no easy feat. Biggies Burger faced its fair share of challenges, including fierce competition, operational hurdles, and the need to strike the right balance between localization and standardization. However, it’s these challenges that have contributed to Biggies Burger’s growth and resilience.
