Love Jihad

On 9th October, an advertisement of less than 1 minute by Tanishq which is a jewellery brand of Tata Groups, was released and their promotional line for this new jewellery was “Ekatvam”.

#BoycottTanishq trended on twitter on Monday because many people tweeted against Tanishq that one of its advertisements promoted “fake secularism” and ”love jihad”.

Day after receiving so much hate on social media especially on twitter, this advertisement which featured a Hindu-Muslim Marriage was pulled down from its YouTube page. This video showed a Muslim family preparing a traditional south Indian baby shower ceremony for their pregnant Hindu daughter-in-law. In video”s description it was mentioned that how the girl is married into a family that does not thinks about these whole religion things and how they love her child as their own child and just only for the sake of girl’s happiness they go out of their way and celebrate with traditions they don’t even know a bit about.

On Monday, Tanishq made that advertisement video private on its YouTube page and then on Tuesday morning, that video was not even visible on that page.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said if these Hindu Bigots have so many problems with this whole Hindu-Muslim “ekatvam”, then why don’t they boycott the biggest symbol of this ekatvam i.e. India.

Former CEO of Viacom 18 production house and currently the managing director of Cheer Networks Raj Nayak tweeted that he felt very disappointed with Tanishq as being such a huge brand can back out due to some stupid trolls against them.
