New Delhi: The legendary automaker Bajaj Auto officially launched its first electric scooter on Wednesday. In an event held in New Delhi, the e-scooter named Chetak Electric was launched in the Indian market. On this special occasion, along with Bajaj Auto CEO and MD Rajiv Bajaj, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant were present as the chief guest. The electric Chetak scooter has been introduced under Bajaj’s EV sub-brand – Urbanite.
Production of Chetak scooter at Bajaj Auto Chakan has started from 25 September. However, many speculations and rumors about its name were revealed. But by revealing the Chetak Electric scooter, Bajaj finally put an end to all rumors. This is Bajaj’s first product in the Chetak two-wheeler EV space.
Chetak features a horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLS, excellent electronic switches, LED finkers. A large digital console has been installed to show all the information. Chetak is powered by a lithium ion battery with NCA cell. The company said that the battery can be charged using a standard domestic 5-15 amp current. Chetak has been launched with two drive modes (Eco and Sport) and a reverse assist mode. It has a regenerative braking system.

With the new Chetak e-scooter in the Indian market, Bajaj finally re-entered the scooter segment after two decades. Chetak scooter is already recognized as a strong brand in the country. Because of this connection, Bajaj decided to return with the name Chetak.
