Ashwin Prabhakara Is Documenting Karnataka’s Food Culture One District at a Time
At 33, Ashwin Prabhakara has carved out a unique space in India’s food creator landscape by focusing on regional food stories. Based in Bengaluru and ranked 48th in the food category, the creator behind @sobengaluru is known for exploring Karnataka’s diverse culinary traditions and bringing them to a wider audience online.
Ashwin’s journey into content creation began with a bold decision — leaving behind his corporate career to pursue food blogging full-time. What started as a passion project gradually evolved into a platform dedicated to documenting the depth and variety of Karnataka’s local food culture.
One of the most defining chapters of his journey came in 2021–22, when he set out on a 100-day food trail across Karnataka’s 31 districts. The goal was simple: to discover and document the lesser-known dishes, small eateries and local flavours that rarely make it into mainstream food conversations. Through his videos and posts, he showcased everything from traditional recipes to hidden local food spots.
Two years later, he repeated the ambitious journey — this time with support from the brand Daily Nutrition, which sponsored the project. The collaboration went beyond content creation. As part of the initiative, Ashwin also used the opportunity to donate groceries to NGOs, blind schools and orphanages, combining storytelling with a social impact element.
With average views crossing 1.3 million and a Goat Score of 8.21, Ashwin Prabhakara represents a creator who has turned his love for food into a meaningful exploration of culture, community and regional identity.
