“… why didn’t you handle the business first?”

“… because earlier men used to handle business, now no more”.

Another web series has been entered during the lockdown days. This time this series is special because Sushmita Sen has returned to the screen after almost a decade. Disney-Hotstar’s new web series Arya has Sushmita Sen in the lead role, a Hindi adaptation of the Dutch series Ponza. Sushmita’s discussion of this series is due to her comeback, story and her character. Is this series fantastic or is Sushmita’s comeback not strong, know …

What is Arya?

Arya, showing the story of a rich family of Rajasthan, has a total of nine episodes, each episode is about 50 minutes. That is, the director has taken time to show the whole story. The story is such that Tej (Chandrachud Singh), a family living in Rajasthan, along with his friend-in-law, does opium work and also does some illegal work.

Tej’s wife Arya (Sushmita) is the daughter of a don who started this work. Now fast houses are built and Arya’s brother wants to increase this work. There is an entry of cocaine, Tej dies in this fight.

After that, the debtors harass Arya, due to which she handles this work. There are many problems in front of him, which is to handle work, handle the family and fight the difficulties constantly facing. Perhaps it would be better to tell the same story, otherwise the fun will be spoiled.

There are a plethora of web series and movies on the OTT platform during and before lockdown. Hindi i.e. Bollywood released some happy here and some released in compulsion. However, few directors or production houses have been able to understand the real game of web series. Which makes him different from films.

The specialty of web series is that it gives you a chance to cook the characters and the story. In Arya it has been used well, perhaps the director (Ram / Sandeep / Vinod) understood its value. Every character has been given a place in the series, Arya means Sushmita Sen as she is the lead.

But apart from that the story of each character has been woven, which gives every character a chance to read. Whether it is ACP Khan’s personal story, Veer’s girlfriend’s threat of being kidnapped, Maya’s painting, these are the small things that allow a side character to go deep into a deep, different from a lead character.

The first two episodes may seem slow, but after the third episode, the story picks up a bit. The story may reflect rich families, well advanced culture, but there is also desperation in it. How does a woman handle business when she faces difficulties and Sushmita has lived every moment in her character.

Whose work is there?

Arya is completely Sushmita Sen’s series. She is fit, looking good in the series. But he has given full life to this character. He has acted with a pause, many scenes also come which make him wow. Perhaps the films that Sushmita Sen was not giving a chance to do, she gave this series. That is, a chance to play tuff.

Apart from Sushmita Sen, the character of Vikas Kumar i.e. ACP Khan is excellent. He has appeared in almost every episode and in an attempt to find a good case, the officer has been shown to be straggling in them. You must have seen them in the CID before (they seem to be Abhijeet to some extent). Also, his hidden truth that he is gay has also been told.

The most spectacular character among all seems to be Sikander Kher, who is seen from the first episode but the buildup is in the third or fourth episode. And you wait from the first episode to know when it will catch the pace. The director has reduced the amount so much that in a long time, this character was paid and given less space.

Apart from this, there are many characters in the series, who have a role. Especially the character of all the three children is very important and all three have also played the character correctly. Especially the youngest child ie Pardesh Pawar. His character has been well roasted, like the fear of a small child.

There is a lot to be good in the web series, but in the beginning the series takes a long time to catch the pace. If no pause is shown, then two episodes can be long enough for that. Also, the character of Sikander Kher could be strengthened. Connecting background music multiple times leaves it behind.

In the series, an attempt was made to bring Bhagwad Geeta connected, threaded into poetry. But he failed completely, especially to give him the look of a rap, according to me is blunder.

In the end, it was just that Chandrachud Singh’s character was quite small. And he really looks like Shashi Tharoor.
