An Active Investor and The Founder Of Digital Currency Group (DCG), Barry Silbert
Barry Silbert is the founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group(DCG), a global firm that develops, acquires, and invests in blockchain and bitcoin businesses around the world. DCG is a multinational organisation that builds, supports, and invests in firms all over the world. It is located at the heart of the bitcoin and blockchain industries.
Barry became one of the first and most active bitcoin investors in 2012, when he established himself as one of the industry’s earliest and most active investors. He started DCG in 2015, and it is now one of the industry’s most prolific investors, having backed hundreds of businesses all around the world.
Barry was the founder and CEO of SecondMarket, a venture-backed technology business that was bought by Nasdaq before joining DCG. Barry worked as an investment banker in New York before starting his own business. He earned an honours degree from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
DCG seeks to address institutional demand for money by providing crypto mining equipment finance, mining and staking services, as well as consultancy services. With investments in over 200 firms in 35 countries, DCG has been the most active investor in the digital currency market. CoinDesk, Genesis, Foundry, Grayscale, Luno, HQ, and Tradeblock are among the seven firms they own and operate.
Barry has garnered various honours and awards, including being named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and Crain’s Chicago Business, as well as being named to Fortune’s renowned “40 under 40” list.
