On Friday, the Chinese flag and the state emblem were removed from the building. Also, the consulate employees were seen taking out their belongings from the building in the morning.
As soon as the Chinese diplomats vacated the building, several black SUV cars, trucks, two white vans and a lock fixer van entered the building complex, as reported by CNN. On the other hand, China’s Foreign Ministry in Beijing said that it has expressed strong opposition and dissatisfaction against the forceful entry of US law enforcement officials in the consulate. As well as diplomatic protests have also been lodged.
“China will give appropriate and necessary response in this regard,” the ministry said in a statement. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the building at the Houston Consulate is a diplomatic consulate and is China’s national asset. The ministry said that according to the Vienna Agreement on Diplomatic Relations and the Sino-US Commercial Embassy Treaty, the US should not encroach on the Chinese Consulate Complex in Houston under any circumstances.
US intervening in internal affairs: China
