The entire journey-from being a passionate engineer to one of the influential regional leaders at Intel- symbolizes a career focused on reshaping the global technology landscape and promoting digital inclusion.
Taha Khalifa joined Intel in 1995. He started his career as an engineer in the United States. Guided by a vision for global impact, he rapidly ascended to leadership positions that expanded Intel’s reach in key markets. Under his leadership as Regional General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Khalifa catalyzed Intel’s growth in emerging economies, paving the way for progress in telecommunications, education, and healthcare.
Khalifa currently serves as Regional Sales Director for EMEA, overseeing the strategic initiatives, partnerships, and sales efforts of Intel across diverse markets. His keen understanding of regional dynamics and global trends has positioned Intel as a leader in cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT, and digital transformation. Under Khalifa’s leadership, Intel launched Project Mustakbal, an ambitious digital transformation initiative tailored for the Middle East. This flagship project has played an important role in developing the high-tech local industry, enabling smart cities, and promoting sustainable development through advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
In terms of the achievements, one could name the establishment of an Innovation Centre of Intel in the United Arab Emirates in 2020. It is a unique platform for regional collaboration and problem-solving, which involves various regions’ access to Intel advanced solutions offered to local governments, industries, and startups to confront key issues like urbanization, the modernization of education systems, or digital health.
Khalifa has advocated for effective partnerships, which include a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority. It seeks to improve the digital infrastructure of the UAE, enhancing technological innovation in various sectors such as cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity. Another success story is Khalifa’s agreement with the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park. This collaboration will focus on using Intel’s expertise to develop projects in AI, IoT, and smart city solutions, all contributing to the UAE vision of becoming a global innovation hub.
In line with Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy, Khalifa has been vocal about sustainable technology adoption. He has been instrumental in Intel’s partnership with Moro Hub, which supports the first green data center in the Middle East, in its pursuit of reducing carbon footprints while advancing digital infrastructure.
Khalifa’s leadership is not just about business success but also about empowering the workforce of the region through enhanced digital literacy programs. He collaborates with governments and educational institutions to provide training and resources that equip people with technical skills needed for a digitally-driven future. As the global technology landscape evolves, Khalifa’s foresight and strategic approach ensure that Intel remains a pivotal player in shaping the digital economy. His initiatives in AI, IoT, and sustainable technologies show his commitment to creating a future in which technology empowers individuals, businesses, and governments alike.
Khalifa’s strong advocacy of inclusivity and education, thus democratizing technology, believes that an innovative future can be shaped for societies so that people can survive and thrive well in the age of interconnections. The story of Intel through Taha Khalifa in the EMEA region is not merely a success story but actually a model of a bright, inclusive, and sustainable digital future. Khalifa’s influence inspires continued progress and innovations on the global scale even as his region enters transformative technologies.
